Kick off of an innovative public level crossings project, led in conjunction with the Railenium Technological Research Institute (IRT), SNCF, SNCF Réseau, and the LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 research laboratory of Hauts-de-France Polytechnic University.
Purpose
The purpose of the project is to design, test and develop a new generation of public level crossings based on the analysis and understanding of human behavior.
The consortium project team aims to set up a mixed reality test platform including a scale-1 model and a virtual reality platform deployed on the Arenberg Creative Mines site near Valenciennes. The platform will be used to test the impact of new public level crossing concepts on the cognitive, physiological and biomechanical behavior of travelers. The results will enable teams to select the best prototypes for a new-generation level crossing which will be subsequently tested at a dedicated railway site.
