RTM trailer passes first tests on the Marseille metro with flying colors!

The very first tests of our DAM TC trailer took place on the Marseille metro early in the morning of Monday 13 February.

What is the DAM TC trailer?

The DAM TC trailer – Device for the Analysis and Measurement of Track Circuits – is an ingenious system, designed and produced by SCLE’s Agency in Marseille at the request of the Marseille metro operator RTM.

The principle

Towed by an electric handcar along the rails, the DAM TC trailer is designed to brush and clean the joints between sections of rail, then measure the quality of the track circuit. An operational track circuit guarantees the integrity of the metro rail signaling system. A locomotive operator controls the DAM TC by means of graphic software which displays camera images and measurement readings.

The purpose of the tests was to validate the correct functioning of the trailer in real operating conditions, in the presence of the RTM and our Marseille R&D team.

This included:

• Shunting / deshunting tests
• Brushing and cleaning trials
• Track circuit measurements
• Odometry tests

With the commissioning of the DAM TC trailer, RTM Marseille will strengthen its preventive maintenance campaigns on the two Marseille metro lines. The first campaign is scheduled in March 2023.
