We look back on last year's collaboration with charity MAD'ENERGIE in Madagascar
Since 2010, SCLE has been contributing to the work of MAD’ENERGIE, a humanitarian association working in aid of Madagascar’s most underprivileged populations living in isolated rural areas.
Purpose
MAD’ENERGIE supplies isolated schools and health centers that are not connected to Madagascar’s local networks with water and electricity using renewable energy technologies; it trains local populations to look after and maintain the equipment themselves.
Each year, MAD’ENERGIE organizes a month-long mission in the field with volunteers.
Projects led in 2023
Securing the Antananarivo fire station call processing center, including setting up an on-site training workshop to equip the center with a photovoltaic generator and installation of the indoor electrical system.
Installation of electricity in a highly isolated bush school in the village of Mahabo-Sabade, including an on-site training workshop to equip the school with a 400 Wp photovoltaic generator, installation of all indoor electrical systems as well as a solar street lamp.
Continuation of a program designed to secure the sustainability of photovoltaic installations already in service involving visits to all sites in operation since 2007, corrective action and the replacement of all fluorescent light fixtures with LED lamps, leading to a significant reduction in energy consumption.
Training of a new team of network electricians at the Akamasoa vocational training center.
The main advantages of the above initiatives for local populations is to make them independent with regard to their drinking water and electrical supply, but also to train them in the maintenance of this precious equipment. The initiatives encourage young people to develop the village and its resources.
MAD’ENERGIE’s values are fully in line with our own: team spirit, commitment, a love of technology and the desire to foster a friendly atmosphere wherever they go for the benefit of all.
